About Pete & Ed Books

Pete & Ed Books specializes in books, videos, maps & magazines on outdoor recreation, covering bicycling, canoeing & kayaking, backpacking & hiking, downhill & cross-country skiing, rock climbing, state & national parks, wildlife viewing and fishing.

There are 3 primary individuals associated with Pete & Ed Books. Pete Benner takes our products on the road, & sells books at bike rides in Indiana & neighboring states. Ed Pope manages the web site, including our comprehensive listings of clubs & regional information pages. Roy Keller is manager of Circle City Bicycles. He or one of his employees will take your orders over our 800 number,

We had our origins at the Hilly Hundred in 1992. That year, Ed co-authored "25 Bicycle Tours in Southern Indiana". Ed & his fellow authors sold copies of the book as part of the publicity campaign for the publisher, Countryman Press. The next year, Pete & Ed began selling other Countryman Press titles at other bicycle rides. When the Internet came along, we put out web page out there in 1995, although it wasn't until 2001 that we obtained our own domain name. Also in 2001, we launched our bicycling gifts site at bicycle-gifts.com

We don't just sell books on outdoor recreation, we participate in & support outdoor activities. We belive clubs are one of the best ways for people to become involved in outdoor activities. Pete & Ed have both been board members for the Central Indiana Bicycling Association, and have led numerous bicycle camping rides. Ed began the CIBA dinner rides in 2000, which have become popular with those who want to socialize a little more while bicycling. Ed is also a board member for the Central Indiana Wilderness Club, and usually leads a bicycle trip & a backpacking trip each year. Check out the numerous listings of clubs within our website. We have well over a 1,000 clubs listed for a variety of activities.

Our goal with this site is to provide our customers with the best selection of books, videos, maps & magazines in a format that allows browsing. Therfore books are grouped together by activity & region. We also provide a great deal of free information through our regional information pages.

We intend to sell our books & other products at competitive prices. Many of our titles are 20% off, and we will match prices of any competitor. Please note that our shipping prices are quite modest. Within the United States, shipping is only $2.50 regardless of the number of items ordered. Compare that to what some of our competitors charge for shipping.
